Robert Sorby 842F Fingernail Grind Bowl Gouge is supplied unhandled and suits the Sovereign System or you can simply turn your own handle. These bowl gouges are made in the UK by Robert Sorby with the highest quality (HSS) high speed steel to give long lasting service to the woodturner. The 842F fingernail grind bowl gouge has a longer cutting edge that the standard grind gouge so is more suited to the heavier types of cuts used in bowl turning, such as the pull cut. This style of grind is can also be used for the fine or heavy slicing cut that give the best finish when turning bowls. It’s always better to use the slicing cut when cutting across end grain with a good sharp bowl gouge it stops any break out. The 842F fingernail grind bowl gouge is designed to fit the Sovereign handles and complements this range well and for many it’s their go to tool for woodturning.
